Committees Defined:

Architectural Committee

The general purpose of this committee is to keep some semblance of uniformity and balance in the community, owners must receive approval from a committee before any work is done. Typically in a homeowners association, this would involve substantial renovation or would relate to exterior work, such as fences, sheds, storage units, added exterior buildings, trees and shrubs or painting.

Communication committees

Communication committees keep everyone informed of all business within the association - including reports about what the other committees have been up to - usually through a newsletter, circular, and/or website. When a new resident moves in the communications committee helps new homeowners get acclimated to their new community.  When contracts are up for bid, new planters are purchased for the lawn, when fees increase or when a board meeting is approaching, the communication committee lets members know about it.  When there is talk of a playground being established, the communications committee helps distribute information among shareholders/homeowners.  The Communications committee concerns themselves with playground/social recreational equipment placement and purchase, the organization of activities, social events and parties, like New Year's galas, or Easter egg hunts for the kids.  They also accept responsibility for the cleanup of such events.

Neighborhood Watch Committee

Neighborhood Watch Committee - (also referred to as crime watch or neighborhood crime watch) is an organized group of residents devoted to crime and vandalism prevention within the neighborhood.  Neighborhood watch committee is a non-vigilante organization. When suspecting criminal activities, members are encouraged to contact authorities and not to intervene.  While we all keep our eyes open, this group is appointed to act as leaders in the prevention and intervention (by contacting authorities) of criminal activities.  All are encouraged to call authorities if they witness (or suspect) derogatory or offensive activities and/or behavior.
